We are here, at Sobral da Lagoa, long enough to have some attachment. This is sufficient for us to know that a separation, however brief, always leaves that bitter sting in the mouth that we always prefer to counterbalance with adding sugar until we get the perfect taste of Oppidum. It was not therefore easy to go to Lisbon for three days of one of the most important events in the business. In fact, SISAB is considered the largest business platform in the agrifood sector worldwide. But much of our world is in these slopes covered with morello cherry trees, which now begin blossoming, the most delicate phase and that inspires the greatest care. As well as being the most beautiful season, this is very much the fault of the pink flowers that paint the green landscape. SISAB PORTUGAL, the biggest international event in Portugal’s agri-food and beverage industry, is where national companies, from small producers to large groups, show themselves to the largest importers in the world. These, for their part, know that it is possible to find the cream of genuine Portuguese products, those whose demand has increased in recent years precisely because the palates have become more demanding as regards not only the origin but also the products. It was unfair if Oppidum was not present in the 2019 Edition, which took place on 25, 26 and 27 February. To make known the oldest Ginja Liquor from Obidos to the five continents. More than the obvious commercial interest, it is urgent that, in a marasm of so many labels claiming for themselves the best quality (some do not even have this concern) Oppidum shouts “come”. Because it seems to us, more and more, that a quality that has remained for more than three decades without falling into the temptation to monetize production by sacrificing its purity so that Óbidos Giner Liquor, heritage of a tradition and ex-libris of a region, is not in fact at risk from the generalization of a lower quality offer.

We also took advantage of the success of our humble booth at such a large event (1,600 buyers from 130 countries searching for 6,500 Portuguese products from 28 different sectors) to present our partnership with O Benefício, the best of the best limited edition label, with more fruit and an alcoholic content of 23,5%, of more intense flavor, where the fruit seems to celebrate in the palate. Armed with successive “returns” after evidence in other “tents” of the SISAB, we can consider that we were a success. That has been bearing fruit that we can (and should) thank the event for an unavoidable projection. We left satisfied and encouraged. Because better is always possible.
